M.K. Resk cannot sit idle for long. Consequently, she is an active writer, teacher, editor, singer, actor, athlete, volunteer, traveler, and mom. Her words have been published in newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and websites regionally, nationally, internationally and virtually.
M.K. holds a B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology and German Studies (Lewis & Clark College, 1999) and a M.A.T. with Elementary Education emphasis (Simmons College, 2003). She is an active member of S.C.B.W.I., 12×12, and several lively critique groups. She was also the recipient of a fabulous mentorship with Peter McCleery through the inaugural Writing With The Stars contest.
M.K. has taught every grade level and most subjects from preschool through graduate school. Most recently she’s taught as an adjunct faculty member at Lewis & Clark College and Wenatchee Valley Community College in the areas of reading, writing, grammar, and ESL. Without fail you can find her learning something new, acting silly, and being curious every single day. She lives amongst breathtaking forest and lovely woodland creatures with her quirky family in Portland, Oregon.
M.K. is currently focused on writing for children. She writes picture books that range from humorous to sweet, lyrical to biographical, but what they all share in common is heart. You can also usually find her tinkering with magazine articles, twiddling with work-for-hire projects, and dreaming of finishing her historical fiction novel.
Her feature articles have been published in regional, national, international and virtual lifestyle magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and websites. She has written on topics ranging from keeping bees in Washington to practicing urology in Haiti to musical theater in New Zealand. Her trademark sociologist viewpoint whipped with wit and heart infuses and livens her narrative voice. Travel, education, recreation, feature, sports, promotional, humor, arts, human interest, fiction, non-fiction…she’s up for anything! And she’d love to hear from you!
